Finding Forever...
It was one random day and I was scrolling through the streets of Instagram. Doomsrolling, yes then I came across this beautiful book cover on someone's story and I said to myself that I was going to check it out. I did check it out and Finding Forever is the best thing I have had in a long time. I was kinda in a reading slump and reading this book dragged me out of that damn slump like ASAP. Word after word, paragraph after paragraph, chapter after chapter, and I could see how much work Aishatu Gali put into this beauty. The intentionality, the research, the details, the banter, the thoughtfulness, ughhhhhhhhhhhh! The details of various things—coffee as an art, managing portfolios as a career, pastry baking—in this book can actually pass for some beginner's masterclass.
We wrapped up with Finding Forever—FF as many of us call it—some weeks ago and I haven't stopped thinking about it and them. You know how it feels when you read a masterpiece and you don't what to do with yourself after you are done reading. You don't know whether you're to cry or laugh but you just know that this is something that will stay with you for a long time, maybe even forever. I love this book so much that I do not want to let go. I recommended it to my friends and it's so interesting that no matter how many times we talk about it, we never talk about the same things. And this because FF is that memorable that you're always going to remember something ‘new’. By the way, this is not a book review because I can't bring myself to do one. I don't think any review is going to do justice to FF and all its glory. There's also the fact that random scenes and details pop in my head at different times.
FF buttressed the saying that goes “it's the thought that counts” and it is so reallllll. The ability to wake up everyday and choose someone over and over again, evident in not just words but also in action is so beautiful to see. And… if I read a book and I'm in love with it and in awe of it, best believe I'm down for the author. So, any book Aishatu is releasing, I'm reading!
Finding Forever is easily accessible and it's available on Wattpad. If your heart is hard as mine was, you'll change.
Till next time,
Atty!
